The Evasons – Mind-Blowing ESP and Mentalism

They are Siegfried and Roy’s favorite act for a reason, and as soon as The Evasons, the world’s top mentalist duo, take the stage, it’s very clear why: you simply can’t take your eyes off them, or keep yourself from wondering what’s next.
It’s impossible not to be completely blown away by Jeff and Tessa Evason’s two-person, audience-interactive telepathy, even for the most jaded skeptic. The only thing that might distract you from what’s happening throughout their performance is the sound of jaws dropping to the floor, audible gasps of incredulousness, and other audience members excitedly exclaiming their delighted shock. Even those distractions, as numerous as they are, can’t break you out of the spell The Evasons quickly put you under as you watch them defy logic time and again.
For these expert performers, stepping on stage is a joy. Says Jeff, “No matter what you’re going through, the moment you walk on stage, it’s gone. There’s just nothing like that moment when you step on stage.” Tessa adds, “It’s communicating. Not just what you say, but how you listen. The audience gets that we’re really listening, and paying attention to them. I get a lot back from the audience. It’s looking at them, looking into their eyes and really listening. How are they going to respond to us? The audience takes us on a journey we hadn’t planned on!”
Their joy is evident, and contagious. And from the moment they take the stage, The Evasons are in full command. Fluid and polished, they easily make each and every show unique and exciting, even while entertaining completely new audiences each time. As Jeff mingles with volunteers in the audiences, Tessa remains on stage, blindfolded. Her ability to know, telepathically, numbers on a bank note, or the names of people in photographs proffered by audience members – and without any prompting whatsoever from Jeff – is beyond anything a mere mortal is capable of. Yet, there she is, reciting flawlessly (and in sequential order!) those numbers, and those names. It seems impossible to believe, yet Tessa does it right before your astonished eyes. Tessa explains, “I’ve always had a great affinity for numbers – even as a child.”
“We are so in tune with each other – that’s the key; I think that’s the bottom line,” says Jeff. They’re obviously also in tune with their audiences. But not just with audiences – with talent buyers and event coordinators, too. “The show is very dynamic,” explains Tessa, “but the requirements are simple so it’s very easy for people to provide for our needs. We’re also very accessible; the prep work is quite easy, so we’re able to make that connection.” In fact, The Evasons have thought of everything, especially the music they use. “We hired a composer to compose completely original music for our show,” says Tessa. That way, there are never any complications in regard to music clearances, etc. Additionally, The Evasons have dual Canadian/United States citizenship, which has proven incredibly useful, and which allows them to travel free from complications relating to visa issuance.
The Evasons haven’t been spoiled by numerous national and international, prime-time television appearances, or by the celebrities and fellow entertainers who laud the couple and their spectacular productions. Instead, the duo remains humble, thinking only of what they can bring to their audiences, and striving to make their shows as special and memorable as they possibly can be. Says Tessa, “we want to leave them with joy and wonderment at what they’ve experienced – the mystery they’ve experienced. I think that would be the most important thing.” Jeff concurs, and adds, “We want to take them away from their problems and troubles for that time – take them to a totally different place.”
